About Me

About ME

You may recognise me from Channel 4’s The Dog House, where I appear regularly as a dog handling specialist, helping to match rescue dogs with the right people. Being part of this twice BAFTA-nominated, Royal Television Society award-winning series has allowed me to share my passion for dog behaviour and training with a wider audience and showcase the life-changing power of positive relationships between dogs and their new families.

I’m Chris Taylor-Rea, a professional dog behaviourist and trainer with over a decade of experience helping dogs and their humans live in better harmony. I spent 13 years working within a leading UK animal rescue organisation. That time gave me invaluable insight into a wide range of behavioural issues, and deepened my commitment to ethical, evidence-based training.

Since 2018, I’ve been providing 1:1 dog training and behaviour consultations to help owners understand their dogs, resolve challenges, and strengthen the bond they share.

As a certified member of the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE) – one of the UK’s most respected behaviour organisations – I’ve been trained to the highest professional standards. CABTi (COAPE’s association of Behaviourist & Trainers)  membership is awarded based solely on qualification, meaning you can trust that my methods are rooted in deep scientific understanding of behaviour therapy.

I also specialise in the EMRA™ approach (Emotion, Mood and Reinforcement Assessment), a unique and holistic framework developed to focus on your dog’s emotional experience. By addressing the underlying causes of behaviour, not just the symptoms, EMRA™ helps reduce unwanted behaviours while promoting wellbeing and emotional balance.

I’m also an associate member of ICAN (International Companion Animal Network) and a proud supporter of the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter, demonstrating my commitment to transparency, professional ethics, and lifelong learning.

When you work with me, you’ll get more than advice – you’ll get empathy, clarity, and support tailored to you and your dog’s unique needs.
