About Me
Hi, I’m Chris Taylor-Rea – a qualified dog behaviourist and trainer with over 10 years of hands-on experience working with dogs and their humans to create calmer, more connected lives together.
You might recognise me from Channel 4’s The Dog House, where I regularly appear as a dog handling expert. Being part of this award-winning, BAFTA-nominated series has given me a unique platform to share my passion for building positive, lasting bonds between rescue dogs and their new families.
Over 13 years working with one of the UK’s top animal rescue charities gave me a profound understanding of canine behaviour—especially the complex emotional needs that often lie behind common challenges. That experience shaped my commitment to ethical, reward-based training methods grounded in the latest behavioural science.
I’m a certified member of COAPE (Centre of Applied Pet Ethology) and CABTi, which means my training practices meet rigorous, evidence-based standards. Your dog’s wellbeing—emotional and behavioural—is always at the heart of what I do.
My approach centres on the EMRA™ framework (Emotion, Mood & Reinforcement Assessment), which helps identify and address the root causes of behaviour, not just the outward symptoms. By focusing on your dog’s emotional world, we can create lasting, positive change for both of you.
Whether you’re struggling with specific issues or simply want to build a stronger bond with your dog, I’ll guide you every step of the way.
Struggling with Your Dog’s Behaviour?
Don't just take my word for it
Here’s what some of my clients have to say about their journeys with me and their dogs.

Chris was fantastic at assisting us with our complex puppy. He gave us advise, support and was available via message when we needed those extra little bits of guidance. Having 2 older dogs and a puppy was challenging, especially bringing in a young dog who we quickly found out didn’t like to share anything. Chris came to assist us promptly and provided safe behavioural assessments and guidance to support us with our complex puppy whilst not compromising the needs of our older dogs. Although a challenging case the best outcome came from it all and we now have a stress free environment for our dogs.

You was extremely helpful with my crazy cocker spaniel jezra who is extremely nervous with new people and very reactive due to this but he soon took a liking to you. Animals pick up on your good vibes clearly. Left me with some great tips and advice which has been much appreciated since would definitely use again if need be.

Good luck and I would definitely recommend you to anyone that has a Romanian baby like us. You confirmed what we were doing was along the right lines which was really encouraging, and told us our babies are wired differently. You kept in touch over a group what’s app and nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you

We contacted Chris following a friend’s recommendation. We needed help with our whippets reactivity towards dogs when walking on lead. Chris collated detailed information about the dogs then visited us at home for a thorough discussion about their behaviour. He walked with us to show us lots of strategies and teach about their early anxiety signs and how to help them. A few years on now and we still use these strategies and have a much better understanding of how to help our dogs- who are much less reactive and calm when walking.
We reached out again to Chris when one of our whippets suffered separation anxiety following our house move. Once again we received excellent advice which we followed and have a dog who is very happy at home – probably better than he’s even been!
Chris would be our first port of a call for any further issues and always who we would recommend to friends and family. His practical, kind and positive approach is fantastic – and really works!

Chris has stepped in to help with our anxious rescue pup, Teddy – born in the kennels, scared of everything; bins, hoovers, the TV. Our biggest issue was walking and how much he barks at other dogs, walking him can at times be un-enjoyable, stressful and has left us questioning our future with Ted. Chris payed detailed attention to his behaviour and took onboard our issues and we were able to better understand how Ted see’s the outside world and how we can help him to gain his confidence and refrain from barking. Our first walk was miles better than any walks we had undertaken before our session, we can’t wait to see Ted’s progress going forward. Chris is very knowledgable in his field and provides hope for owners and love for their dogs!

Chris is helping with our dog Freddie, whose body clock is certainly not in sync with ours. Chris has identified possible reasons and we are implementing his suggestions. He has provided a detailed plan of action and I feel very confident that it will work. Really great guy and my dogs had instant rapport with him

Chris is very professional and knowledgeable. I can’t believe how only after one session he helped us to understand our dog and how she feels. We highly recommend Chris and really looking forward to continue working with him.

Very friendly and welcoming dog trainer who takes the time to really listen and investigate your dog’s issues in order to give sound, practical advice. He came to our house for a 2 hour dog training session and we learned a tremendous amount about how to tackle our dog’s issues. Great communicator, both before the home visit and with support afterwards. Would recommend Chris in a heartbeat to anyone who’s struggling with their 4 legged friend.
