About Me
Hi, I’m Chris Taylor-Rea – a qualified dog behaviourist and trainer with over 10 years of hands-on experience working with dogs and their humans to create calmer, more connected lives together.
You might recognise me from Channel 4’s The Dog House, where I regularly appear as a dog handling expert. Being part of this award-winning, BAFTA-nominated series has given me a unique platform to share my passion for building positive, lasting bonds between rescue dogs and their new families.
Over 13 years working with one of the UK’s top animal rescue charities gave me a profound understanding of canine behaviour, especially the complex emotional needs that often lie behind common challenges. That experience shaped my commitment to ethical, reward-based training methods grounded in the latest behavioural science.
I’m a certified member of COAPE (Centre of Applied Pet Ethology) and CABTi, which means my training practices meet rigorous, evidence-based standards. Your dog’s wellbeing, emotional and behavioural, is always at the heart of what I do.
My approach centres on the EMRA™ framework (Emotion, Mood & Reinforcement Assessment), which helps identify and address the root causes of behaviour, not just the outward symptoms. By focusing on your dog’s emotional world, we can create lasting, positive change for both of you.
Whether you’re struggling with specific issues or simply want to build a stronger bond with your dog, I’ll guide you every step of the way.
Struggling with Your Dog’s Behaviour?

Here’s what some of my clients have to say about their journeys with me and their dogs.
EXCELLENT Based on 32 reviews Posted on Google Ollie BoyneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chris has been a huge help in dealing with handling-related aggression in our young Show Cocker Spaniel, Woody. Chris gave us the time and attention needed to try a few different techniques with Woody, managing to find one in our 8 weeks together that has helped hugely in managing his issues and rebuilding trust.Posted on Google Stefan Subocz-SchramTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We hired Chris to help us with our cockapoo, who had a tendency to bark at passers by as well as guests in our house, and we’ve been really pleased with the support and guidance he provided throughout the process. From the initial consultation through to our final session, he was professional, knowledgeable, and approachable. He gave us a clear and structured process to follow, which made it much easier to understand how to manage the behaviour. What we particularly appreciated was how adaptable he was. If something wasn’t working, he was always willing to adjust the approach and try new methods to find what suited our dog best. He was also very flexible when arranging sessions, which made the whole experience convenient and stress-free. We’ve learned a lot from working with him and would happily recommend him to anyone looking for help with their dog’s behaviour.Posted on Google Mel AdamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Initially this can look like a very expensive service, however the more you progress through the time with Chris the more you realise what value for money you get. Chris offers a very comprehensive programme with unlimited access during the 8 weeks. He also kindly wrote a letter to my vets and offered to communicate with them directly, with no extra cost involved. Chris is to the point, clear in his explanations and shows kindness and empathy for difficult situations when they arise. We are still have some issues with our dog but we never expected an 8-week programme to be a magic wand. After this programme we are much more able to deal with and understand triggers. I see this as an ever-evolving situation with our dog that requires understanding, consistency and continued working towards our goal. I would recommend Chris without hesitation and am very grateful for the time we gave been able to have with him.Posted on Google Ashley WarrenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely amazing. Makes you feel comfortable from the first moment you meet him. Able to communicate outside of sessions. I'm actually booking more sessions, to help my girl feel more confident.Posted on Google ella davyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We worked with Chris to help our dog who has severe anxiety around people and new places. Chris was very quick at answering messages and providing detailed feedback and training which really helped with the progression. On the home visits, Chris was very understanding and non-judgemental. Having an anxious dog, through no fault of their own, it was nice to meet a trainer who took their time with our dog and made sure to build a positive relationship with them. We have seen a massive difference with our dog. He started out very protective of our house and wary of neighbours and new people. However, with Chris’s help, our dog is now able to be in the garden and not engage with neighbours or strangers walking past the house. Chris has also helped us with people coming inside the house, walking on the lead and what to do when our dog passes strangers. So much so that we are now confident enough to go to a busy cafe with our dog. Chris has provided valuable training skills and techniques which we are now able to incorporate in day-to-day life, so the programme is worth it as it helps you in the future. I can’t recommend Chris enough.Posted on Google Susie WillisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are so grateful to Chris. Our dog, who we adopted came with a range of problems in the house and out on walks. Chris gave us expert insight which helped create change and our confidence grow. Thank you Chris. You made such a difference.Posted on Google Judy GoldsmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chris made such a difference to our relationship with our puppy Florence. He helped us develop positive ways to engage with her based on understanding her needs. Chris was always available with practical solutions. He was consistently kind, calm and supportive.Posted on Google Lynne fearTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chris has been amazing helping us with our 4 year old cockerpoo who had become very anxious and stressed when going into a cafe or restaurant. She would constantly try to jump up on our laps, getting to the stage where I didn't want to take her into these places. Chris's guidance has helped us and we can now go and have a cuppa and enjoy it. She's not 100% but on her way there we just have to continue with the training that Chris has taught us.Posted on Google Neil FranklinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic working with Chris. His understanding of dogs and the techniques for training them really was impressive and he was helpfully willing to work around my busy life. We only had two sessions together but it was enough to get a strategy in place and starting to see improvements in Keira already.Posted on Google nicola dennisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chris was fantastic at assisting us with our complex puppy. He gave us advise, support and was available via message when we needed those extra little bits of guidance. Having 2 older dogs and a puppy was challenging, especially bringing in a young dog who we quickly found out didn’t like to share anything. Chris came to assist us promptly and provided safe behavioural assessments and guidance to support us with our complex puppy whilst not compromising the needs of our older dogs. Although a challenging case the best outcome came from it all and we now have a stress free environment for our dogs.

You was extremely helpful with my crazy cocker spaniel jezra who is extremely nervous with new people and very reactive due to this but he soon took a liking to you. Animals pick up on your good vibes clearly. Left me with some great tips and advice which has been much appreciated since would definitely use again if need be.

Good luck and I would definitely recommend you to anyone that has a Romanian baby like us. You confirmed what we were doing was along the right lines which was really encouraging, and told us our babies are wired differently. You kept in touch over a group what’s app and nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you

We contacted Chris following a friend’s recommendation. We needed help with our whippets reactivity towards dogs when walking on lead. Chris collated detailed information about the dogs then visited us at home for a thorough discussion about their behaviour. He walked with us to show us lots of strategies and teach about their early anxiety signs and how to help them. A few years on now and we still use these strategies and have a much better understanding of how to help our dogs- who are much less reactive and calm when walking.
We reached out again to Chris when one of our whippets suffered separation anxiety following our house move. Once again we received excellent advice which we followed and have a dog who is very happy at home – probably better than he’s even been!
Chris would be our first port of a call for any further issues and always who we would recommend to friends and family. His practical, kind and positive approach is fantastic – and really works!

Chris has stepped in to help with our anxious rescue pup, Teddy – born in the kennels, scared of everything; bins, hoovers, the TV. Our biggest issue was walking and how much he barks at other dogs, walking him can at times be un-enjoyable, stressful and has left us questioning our future with Ted. Chris payed detailed attention to his behaviour and took onboard our issues and we were able to better understand how Ted see’s the outside world and how we can help him to gain his confidence and refrain from barking. Our first walk was miles better than any walks we had undertaken before our session, we can’t wait to see Ted’s progress going forward. Chris is very knowledgable in his field and provides hope for owners and love for their dogs!

Chris is helping with our dog Freddie, whose body clock is certainly not in sync with ours. Chris has identified possible reasons and we are implementing his suggestions. He has provided a detailed plan of action and I feel very confident that it will work. Really great guy and my dogs had instant rapport with him

Chris is very professional and knowledgeable. I can’t believe how only after one session he helped us to understand our dog and how she feels. We highly recommend Chris and really looking forward to continue working with him.

Very friendly and welcoming dog trainer who takes the time to really listen and investigate your dog’s issues in order to give sound, practical advice. He came to our house for a 2 hour dog training session and we learned a tremendous amount about how to tackle our dog’s issues. Great communicator, both before the home visit and with support afterwards. Would recommend Chris in a heartbeat to anyone who’s struggling with their 4 legged friend.
